Foodie Havens

DELICACIES AROUND TOWN

So I am reviving my "Foodie Havens" page by now adding images of the dishes I enjoyed in all these places. I would like to point out though that I'm not going to criticize any foodie place. Who am I to decide what is good or not, everyone's taste buds are different.. And if I can influence anyone in any slight, even teeny, tiny way, then I wouldn't want to spread negativity, and maybe cause even the slightest harm to a business and therefore someone involved. My conscience would haunt me forever! After all, I just want to spread the love of food :) So I'm only commenting on the nice, pleasant and yummy dishes I've had, and will leave my humble negative criticisms to myself. So having said all that, I now hope you enjoy this little section as much as I do. I'll keep it updated with all the new places I try out around town. Much love, D xx

Mezza House in Old Town:
I'm not someone who actually eats at a lot of Lebanese/Arabic restaurants, but the other day, I went for lunch with my sis and a friend at Mezza House, a restaurant specializing in "Levantine" cuisine. From Lebanese classics, to Jordanian and traditional Syrian dishes, I must admit reading the menu made me wonder why I don't eat or cook as much Arabic food as I should. These are a few of the memorable dishes I had, their special Mtabal was lovely with pomegranate seeds and beautifully caramelized onions. Also really enjoyed the fattoush (it's tough to find a good fattoush in restaurants, no matter how easy it is to make!). The Ras Asfour and the Kibbe with Sumac and Onions  were delish as well, simple but with a twist.. It's making me hungry just writing about it!

Fire & Ice @ Raffles Hotel - What can I say, this place simply has the best burger in town.. Literally!! And the truffled potatoes were to die for.. As was their beautiful wine selection.. Delicious!

The Ristorante @ Armani Hotel -Unfortunately I was having a quick lunch at this fabulous eatery, and so I didn't give the menu the time it deserved.. But the Burrata and the Osso Bucco were just to die for.. I will return to dissect the menu and try a few other dishes for some more juicy details :)

PING PONG@ Dubai Mall - There just isn't anything better in life than dumplings! I can have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.. Basically everything in the steamed section and the baked puffs are my favourites at this simple little eating haven..

TRAITEUR@ Park Hyatt, Deira - A few of the many dishes we had were very yummy.. I particularily liked the Escargots, the Foie Gras starter and the Chateaubriand Rossini.. I didn't like the Duck a l'Orange but that's cuz I decided I really don't like orange in my food.. EVER! Not in chocolate, or sauces, and definitely not with Duck! But I do love my freshly squeezed OJ..

PEPPERCRAB- This isn't something for the fainthearted. But the mud crab with pepper sauce must be one of the best things I have EVER eaten! It's messy, so a great ice breaker if you're on a date ;) Parts of crab fly across the room & sauce splatters everywhere as you're digging into this beautiful crab.. So if you're ready for a serious food attack & spending a little fortune, then you'll be a very happy person. Don't waste time & space, just order one mud crab per person & a nice bottle of wine. Heavenly!

YEJUN Korean Restaurant- I was craving my slummy seafood at Seaworld but my hubby convinced me to try the Korean next door.. and thank God he did! The spicy shrimp "kanpoon sae woo", the marinated short ribs " yang yam", and the kimchi soup with somyum noodles! Amazing! Ask for Alvin he took good care of us ;)

KISAKU- top notch Japanese in Deira.. The tuna summer roll with a peanuty sauce, the wagyu beef and the fatty tuna literally melt in your mouth! (Thanks Dima.. and Joe ;)

BENTOYA- the best Niki Udon and Seafood Ramen! Their sashimis &rolls are also excellent.. Love it!

MARGAUX- Their steak tartare.. Ask for it "bien relevé" (a little spicy)

DUCK KING- Fresh Rice Roll Dumplings.. I love these gooey canneloni like dumplings..

KWALITY- Bur Dubai... Thanks to my hubby I've had the best Indian food ever at this lovely place.. You've never had Butter Chicken like that!

LOCA- you get your nice little Mexican fix at this place!

SEAWORLD on Sheikh Zayed Road- Fried Calamri with lemon butter chilli sauce.. It's a little crispy, a little soggy.. Sounds weird but it's amazing.. and the Red Curry Tiger prawns.. Yumm!

SPICE EMPORIUM- The Westin.. I love this place, they add a twist to all their dishes

TOKYO@THE TOWERS-the best Black Cod. Not too soft, not too firm. Simply the best one in my books :)

DEAN&DELUCA- The spicy Mexican chicken sandwich.. Very spicy but very good.. On brown bread w/ lettuce and tomato :) Fire & Ice @ Raffles Hotel - What can I say, this place simply has the best burger in town.. Literally!! And the truffled potatoes were to die for.. As was their beautiful wine selection.. Delicious!
